This is the diary of our family vacations in Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket). Here are our experiences and adventures read, there are pictures of our excursions, hotels, and especially the wonderful Thai culinary delights, as well as short films. Information, restaurant tips and links round out our Diary of the long planning of the leave until the last day and the sad farewells of our friends from Australia. Quite a shot, there are still suggestions for cookbooks on Thai food, travel guides and course-related novels with Thailand.

The planning phase

The planning for this holiday started in April 2007 when my parents from your Thailand holiday, in which a befriended couple met are returned. They had been with the Friends agreed that to repeat next year.

For my husband and me was at that time not an issue since I had a job that allowed me to leave only during the school holidays .. Of course I would have loved or buyer, but at the time it was completely unrealistic. But then passed some things that my husband and me involved in the planning: In April I was terminated in July and my grandmother died. My father was generous enough to let me have a lot of the legacy for this holiday and it was decided at a Tuesday afternoon, the pact "common holiday 2008 in Thailand". In the evening my husband was then the news and told he could not say more to the holidays. Also a second pact was signed fix: My parents were planning a vacation with their friends as usual, but tell nothing about it that my husband and I would participate in this holiday too. The next Tuesday I then brought all the money that I had fished together at home with my parents to keep (at least € 1885).

began in the autumn we then to circulate leaflets to compare prices on the internet to look for hotels. Problem is that the holiday brochures of major travel agencies such as Tai Pan and Jumbo offered to Thailand until the end of March, which was a relatively expensive calculation. The catalogs, but were but not yet on the market, so we we had to wait a further planning. Every Tuesday evening at the dinner we planned the surprise that we would give our Australian friends. But even at the family Christmas party was complete without not travel brochures.

was in the plans of my parents and friends there now so that identities of two nights and twelve nights Bangkok Phuket. My parents had to be careful of course that they trumpeted the secret not even at their weekly Messenger conversations.

The planning was already at the stage where questions were sent by mail to the travel agencies that offers written and arrived on the mail account of my father. The lowest was from Tai-Pan, on 10.01.2008, the holidays with the confirmation number. 38100126 posted in Mrs Prohaska, who was very friendly and helpful, booked. We booked directly at the Tai Pan Building, 1130 Vienna, Hetzendorfer 191st Street

Only 12 weeks until departure. Now that everything was not just a plan, but the reality turned to continue our discussions on Tuesday evening, as the holiday would be and especially how we were able to surprise the Australians now. My father and his friend share the journey time from concrete and holiday joy came on - and, of course, we counted the weeks and were happy to mad, that the holiday was approaching.

Finally, on 17.03.2008, we were able to pick up our tickets (incl. seat reservation) and travel documents. That's only electronic tickets (which look like delivery notes) are, of anticipation could do no harm and I wish I would have immediately packed their bags. Only two and a half weeks until the big surprise ... agree we were able to "understand Thailand" with a small free guide to the holiday.
