Bangkok: Day 1 - Grand Palace

the end of our trip we stopped the program from the dock still a short walk to Grand Palace.
had before the palace, Herbert and Kay still borrow clothes to suit the Palace order. However, there roamed a lot of the dealer offered us their goods, so that the few minutes of waiting time, we seemed like hours. Finally we could start with our small tour group to enter the palace grounds.

The palace was beautiful to watch and it must be a joy, it rested and possibly to do in the morning. We could appreciate the palace did not because we were tired and thirsty - and hot it was.

By the time we were a good 28 hours without sleep. ..

is of course the palace grounds impressively and we had our own leaders, we also made progress quickly. Our guide has explained everything wonderfully, but we no longer have to record everything. A temple in the system have only looked at Robert and Herbert, the rest of us were too exhausted and have set ourselves on a bench in the shade. In addition, we were afraid to come not in our shoes (or want) if we had taken off for now. Because there were blisters and sores enough. In the palace were also works access because a few days later to keep the king in the palace of a speech and perform a ceremonial ritual would.

Then we went back to the minibus - of course not without again waiting for Herbert and Kay in the middle of traders - they had to return the borrowed clothes so again.

On the way to the hotel was much less traffic than at noon, and it did not take long to get back to our rooms were - and ready for the next stage which is the dinner at Big Jim.

Info:
The Grand Palace (
Thai : พระบรม มหาราช วัง in English. Language: "Grand Palace") was the official residence of the kings of Siam (now Thailand ) in Bangkok since the end of the 18th century to the mid-20th Century . After the tragic death of King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII ) 1946 Borom-Phiman Palace decided to King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX . ) the relocation of the residence in the Chitralada Palace .

The entire system of the old royal palace followed surprisingly closely the plan of the short time previously destroyed Ayutthaya. The complex consists of an approximately 2.6-acre site on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River near the Royal Palace, the Sanam Luang. Here, various buildings and facilities are arranged, the most important being the Wat Phra Kaeo, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is.

The current building on the site are the result of ongoing construction activity since 1782, since then buildings were constructed, expanded, rebuilt, renovated or torn down to make room for new plants. The first phase of construction was completed to the enthronement of King Rama I, on 13 June 2006, inaugurated the newest building, the throne hall Borommaratchasathit Maholan (พระที่นั่ง บรม ราช สถิต ย มโหฬาร).
